How To Make An Ipod App – How Hard Is It Really?

make an ipod appHi Guys, John here again and many thanks for coming back to my Make an Ipod App webpage. I can see from my website numbers that visits are increasing everyday which is good to know and also keeps me motivated to write. In this post I am going to get into the nuts and bolts of how to make an ipod app. As mentioned previously I have done a lot of research into the “how to create your own app” niche and below are my findings.

First and foremost, the angle I took for finding a way of making ipod apps that would suit me the best is as follows

  1. I have never worked for an app company or designed an ipod app before so have zero experience
  2. I am a software tester by trade but I can’t actually program to save myself!
  3. The costing must be none or minimal at best
  4. As I like to see results, the start to finish time to make an ipod app must be short, i.e less than 4 weeks
  5. I don’t like stress, so I want the process to be both challenging and enjoyable.
Therefore after all those considerations, I believe that I have found the best solution for me. I came across an e-course called “How To Make Iphone/Ipod Apps With No Programming Experience” It breaks down the whole process in a step by step guide and gives you the exact resources they use to get their app ideas to market quickly and cheaply . If you would like to see a detailed video on this e-course please click here
So after reading the e- course, here is the main process to making a profitable Ipod or Iphone app

Make An Ipod App Process # 1 – A Good Ipod App Idea

This probably goes without saying but before you decide to jack in your full time job to make ipod apps professionally, you must have at least one good app idea.

Make An Ipod App Process # 2 – Design Your Ipod App

This process involves actually writing your idea down on paper and including a design sketch or mock up of the screens needed for the App.  The design document or specification does not have to be 100 pages long. It can be 3 pages in length so long as it’s concise, covers all the requirements and includes all of your sketches . Your Design document should never include basic background business  information ( example here is no need to write who your target audience is, projected sales etc in a design document) that is not needed and will only confuse developers at a later stage.

Make An Ipod App Process # 3 – Develop Your Ipod App

Pass your Design Specification to an accomplished iphone/ipod app developer or team of ipod app devlopers. The iphone/ipod app developer  or team should have an extensive portfolio, or else a  personal recommendation to indeed show you that they can make an ipod app. This is where I run into trouble. I don’t know any one who programs in Objective C. This e – course tells you where to find & hire low-cost Ipod and Iphone App Developer Teams. Make An Ipod App Process # 4 – Submit to Apple

Once your ipod app has been developed and has been fully tested (which also is fully covered in the e course), you must then submit to Apple. They will then review it and once they are happy with your ipod app they will post it to the Apple App Store for general sale.

Make An Ipod App Process # 5 – Make Money and Rinse And Repeat

When you decide  how to make ipod apps – whether it be a free app or a paid for app – both avenues of making ipod apps can be very profitable. One through advertising and the other through sales. If your app is innovative, then it wont be long before it is viral. If its a remake of an similar app then hopefully you will have discussed ways to promote and market it at the initial ideas phase to guarantee a return on investment. Once you start to make money from your first app, then go straight back to step 1 and come up with a new idea to make your own ipod app and rinse and repeat. Before you know it you can turn your part time ipod app idea adventure into a full time gig.

One Last Word

So to answer my original question, how hard is it really to make an ipod app? I will be totally honest here,  it is not simple. If it was then every one who could make an ipod app would be doing it, but it is not overly difficult either. It does involve being committed and dedicated to the task at hand but it is definitely achievable once you know what you are doing. On the plus side once you make an ipod app for the first time, then it becomes a walk in the park after that.

Here’s a success story for all of us interested in the “how to create an ipod app” niche. The iFart app made $27,000 in 1 day alone. Imagine an app idea so simple but yet so profitable! There are tons of ideas like that out there waiting to be developed so if you would like a holding you by the hand guide showing you how to make an ipod app  then Click here to visit the “How To Make Iphone/Ipod Apps With No Programming Experience” website.

Differences Between An Ipod App Developer & Designer

An Ipod App Developer is a pretty specific job, however sometimes people get it confused with an ipod app designer. Now lets not rush to a quick conclusion and say that an ipod app developer cannot also be the ipod app designer. This is incorrect as this happens quite alot especially for small projects. However for larger projects it may be wiser to have the creative source separate from the technical source, but allow input during the design stages. Also please note that dependant on your type of application, whether its an action game, a text game or a luxury time saver type app, then the iphone/ipod developer will require different skill sets.

The differences between an Ipod app developer and designer

An ipod/iphone app designer

They first create a sketch or a mock up of the ipod app screen. Here they have the basic idea of how they want the app laid out. He then uses a piece of software like  ”iPhone GUI PSD” to design the screens as to how it will look when fully complete.

An Ipod/Iphone app developer

An Ipod App Developer then use a program language called Objective C to code the ipod application screens in Xcode. Xcode is the development environment for the ipod/iphone software development kit.

Making Ipod Apps Vary in difficulty

Can you imagine how to make an ipod touch app for example that only uses text to ask predifined list of quesions, and compare it to an ipod app such as Angry Birds. The amount of labour hours involved in creating these two applications is vast. Everything from graphics to the game simulation would add hundreds of hours for developing a game like angry birds, where as a simple text quiz could be programmed in a few days. If you have an idea to make ipod app then you must factor in how much labour is involved and whether or not you will be able to design and code it your self or outsource to a competent resource.

If you do not possess the skills to program and make your own ipod app idea then do not fret because in my next blog post I will advise on a few ways around this for next to nothing in costs.

Information On How To Make An Ipod App

Hi All,

John here and welcome to my new webpage Make An Ipod App.net. This is a precusor post to give you an idea of what I will be discussing in the  next number of posts and articles that I will be submitting over the coming days and weeks. If you have been wondering how to make your own ipod app then you definitely have come to the right place.

Mobile technology (this includes iphones, ipads, ipods, androids, smartphones etc) is one of the fastest growing technological sectors. One of the main reasons for this was of course the introduction of the iphone by apple which was launched in Januray 2007. Since then, Apple have crushed the smartphone market (lately androids have been catching up, but apple as still clear leaders). Since the rise of these devices it has spawned another hugely profitable market, the App market.

Making ipod apps (or iphone or ipad) is now a definite career choice for a lot of creative individuals. Thankfully you don’t need to be an ipod app developer or coder to actually think of an ipod app idea and bring it to the market and I hope to go into more of this in a further post.

I will also be going into the reasons why I think making ipod apps is the new boom industry and that delaying in entering the sector will cost you a lot of easy money while the sector is in its infancy.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for my next post.
